Privacy policy

We collect only what we need to send you your plans and answer your questions. We don't sell your information, and you can ask to see, correct or delete it at any time.

Who we are

Backyard Plans, Auckland, New Zealand. Questions about your information go to hello@backyardplans.co.nz. This policy follows the Privacy Act 2020.

What we collect

Your email address, when you join the waitlist, buy a plan set or email us.
Your order details: which design, the date and the amount paid.
Payment details: these go to Stripe, our payment processor, on their checkout page. Stripe may collect your name, billing address and card details. We don't see or store your card number.
Basic technical information such as your IP address and browser type, in our server logs, used to keep the site running and secure.

Why we collect it

To deliver your plan pack and re-send it if needed.
To let you know about corrections or revised versions of plans you've bought.
To tell you when plans go on sale, if you joined the waitlist.
To answer your questions, and to keep the business and tax records the law requires.

We'll only send you marketing emails if you've asked to hear from us, and every one has a way to unsubscribe.

Who we share it with

We don't sell or rent your information. We only share it with the services we use to run the site:

Stripe, to take payments.
Our email delivery provider (SendGrid), to send your plans and emails.
Our website host, which stores the site and its records.

Some of these providers store information overseas, including in the United States. We use providers with recognised security and privacy standards. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

Cookies and third-party content

This site doesn't use advertising or tracking cookies. Pages load fonts from Google Fonts and the 3D viewer from a public code library (unpkg), so those services receive your IP address when you visit. Stripe's checkout page uses its own cookies to process payments safely.

How long we keep it

Order records are kept for seven years, as NZ tax law requires. Waitlist addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it, or delete it where we don't need to keep it by law. Email hello@backyardplans.co.nz and we'll respond within 20 working days. If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
